Sanehalli has now become a hub of theatre activities. Sri Shivakumara Open Air Theatre: The open air theatre is situated in serene atmosphere of Sanehalli. During the festival, over three thousand audience witness dramas. The open air theatre can accommodate over 5,000 audience at a time.

In the beginning, local high school students, employees and interested village youths were selected to perform roles in the plays. Every year about 3 plays were rehearsed and performed at Sanehalli and in other parts of Karnataka.

The artists feel proud to perform in the open air theatre. Sri Shivakumara Award. The award is instituted in memory of the spiritual father Sri Shivakumara Mahaswamiji. The award will be presented to a talented modern theatre artist in the fields of Acting, Stage Craft, Direction and Organization.
